D2 is on the bottom

ROV Deep Discoverer (D2) has reached the bottom at “New England Seep 3″ – a site in ~1100m of water where several bubble plumes were previously detected with the Okeanos Explorer‘s EM302 multibeam sonar system. The second feed coming off the ship during today’s dive is the Brow Cam on D2 which we are using in a fixed position for benthic transects. We may find natural gas seeps and perhaps chemosynthetic communities at this site. Explore with us!
