Nighttime Ops 7/10

2111 EDT: NOAA Ship Okeanos Explorer is currently conducting sub-bottom profiler operations over a landslide south of Veatch Canyon until 2200. Afterwards, exploration multibeam mapping operations will be conducted through the night. Tomorrow, a dive will be conducted at “New England Seep 3” – a site in ~1100m of water where a cluster of bubbles were previously detected with the Okeanos Explorer‘s EM302 multibeam sonar system.  ROV Deep Discoverer (D2) is expected to be launched at 0830 tomorrow morning.
