Dive 07: NW Guam Seamount

NOAA Ship Okeanos Explorer is on station and preparing to deploy ROV Deep Discoverer for Dive 08 at Northwest Guam Seamount. This extinct arc volcano is the last unexplored large arc seamount in the southern Marianas. Its summit region may host extinct hydrothermal fields and deep-sea coral communities. Today’s dive will begin at 1350 m and traverse upslope to reach the seamount summit at ~1200m and then explore along the summit.
